Four youth were promised jobs as round forest officers, but ended up being roundly cheated of Rs 12 lakh.
Pernem police have booked a man from Akhada in Sant Estevam for cheating four youth of Rs 12 lakh, after promising them jobs in the forest department.
According to police reports, the agent induced one Vaibhav Naik of Chonsai-Pernem and one Durgesh Ghodge of Devulwada-Korgao to pay him Rs 4 lakh each, after promising them jobs as round forest officers.
The agent later provided them with fake appointment letters and even went to the extent of conducting training for them at Campal-Panjim.
While promising that each of them would be paid a monthly salary of Rs 36,000, the agent informed them that three more vacancies were available in the forest department.
Both Vaibhav and Durgesh paid Rs 4 lakh each to the agent and then paid and additional Rs 2 lakh each, hoping that their brothers, Ragnath Naik and Kamlesh Ghodge, would also get the jobs.
But when the agent failed to honour his promises, the youth realized that they had been duped and filed a complaint against him with the Pernem police.
Pernem police has registered the case under Section 420 IPC and is on the lookout for the agent.
