PANJIM: Judicial Custody of Suleman Khan alias Siddiqui has been extended by 14 more days by the Panaji Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC). Suleman was sent to Police custody soon after his arrest and later remanded to 14 days judicial custody on December 27.
So far Suleman, his wife Afsana, dismissed constable Amit Naik who aided the escape and Hazratsaab Bhavannavar who aided the escape from Hubli have been arrested. Currently, only Suleman remains in custody while Naik, Afsana and Bhavannavar have been freed on bail.
It may be recalled that Suleman while on the run had filed a bail application before the JMFC Mapusa which was rejected on Dec 17. He was later arrested from Kerala reportedly on Dec 21 and brought to Goa on Dec 23.
Meanwhile, the application filed by the Crime Branch for the custody of Suleman for interrogation into the three land grabbing cases was rejected by the Panaji JMFC.
The Crime Branch which is leading the Special Investigative Team (SIT) land grabbing has three cases registered against Suleman. Suleman is accused of grabbing two lands in Bardez and one in Valpoi by means of cheating an forgery. Suleman’s wife Afsana is an accused in the case of land grabbing in Mapusa.
