PONDA: Angry at the long queue of trucks parked on both the sides of the four-lane National Highway at Kerya, the villagers have demanded the authorities stop such parking.
According to the villagers, the stretch of National Highway at Kerya is accident prone and that parking of heavy trucks on the road would multiply the chances of accidents there.
Daily commuter Sukanand Naik said that the trucks parked on both sides of the highway obstruct the view of the drivers, as such, it may lead to accidents.
After the inauguration of the highway, the locals were hoping for smooth and safe journey. However, truck parking on highway has dashed their hopes.
The local gram sabha recently passed a resolution opposing parking of trucks and even warned to come on road in case RTO failed to take action on truck parking.
Since there is no proper truck terminus in Goa, the highways along Farmagudi, Dhavlim and Curti-Kerya are used as parking places causing great hardship to locals.
