ASSAGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that his government wants to bring changes in the education sector in the next three years.
The chief minister made the announcement while addressing the gathering after inaugurating the new college building as part of the111th anniversary of Dnyanprassarak Mandal at DMC College in Assagao on Tuesday.
He said that there was a need to bring changes in the education policy and create such a system wherein the students after passing out will either get a job or be self-employed.
“I had meeting with the officials from the education department to discuss about the system. There is a need for some courses to be replaced and skill based education introduced. Tests need to be done for standard 10 and 12 students to know their skills. We have to create awareness and prepare students for competitive exams,” Sawant said.
Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte pointed out that Dnyanprassarak Mandal has brought about a revolution in the field of education in Bardez.
Director of Higher Education Prasad Lolayekar stated that career counselling that is currently taken only offers information about the various courses.
