PONDA: Locals of Bazaarmoll in Curti Khandepar panchayat jurisdiction held protests on Tuesday and demanded that the government launches a Swatch Bharat mission in that area.

They complained about the foul stench emanating from the gutters in Bazaarmoll, which they say are choked with garbage, plastic bottles and dirty water.
The protests were led by MGP leader Ketan Bhatikar, who criticised the authorities for allowing the area become so polluted and a mosquito breeding ground, and a hazard to the public.
Locals also demanded the shifting of garbage bins which are kept close to the residential areas.
Bhatikar alleged that some residents fling garbage on the roads, which causes a traffic nuisance as well.
The local women added that they had complained to the panchayat in April but nothing had been done. The panchayat blamed the lack of labourers due to the COVID pandemic for being unable to carry out the work.
However the women listed out their grievances and pointed out that the water from the drains along with garbage flows on to the roads during the monsoon. They added that the situation is so bad it is becoming unbearable and demanded that the authorities act immediately
