MAPUSA: A lightning struck three houses in Carona, Aldona on Tuesday evening due to which electrical appliances worth Rs 9 lakh were damaged.
Three houses owned by Nicholas Sequeira, Jose Dias and Maria Dias at Carona, Aldona were affected due to the lightning, which caused a short circuit damaging appliances such as television sets, refrigerator, washing machine, fan and etc worth Rs 9 lakh.
Nicholas Sequeira claimed put the loss at Rs 5 lakh while the two Dias families claimed to have suffered loss of Rs 2 lakh each.
According to information available, the impact due to the lighting was such the tube-lights burst and broken glass lay scattered on the ground. Suvarna Nicholas Sequeira, who was working in the kitchen at the time of the incident, was injured and was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, local MLA Glenn Ticlo visited the spot and assured to provide financial help to the affected families.
