The 200-metre stretch of NH-17 from Chodwa Sawod to Kajuwada in Quepem constituency continues to languish in a deplorable state, causing immense hardship to local residents. Despite repeated appeals made since the liberation of Goa, the road remains unrepaired as the Forest Department has reportedly withheld permission for the works.
Residents allege that the neglected condition of the road has led to several tragic incidents over the years. In one instance, a pregnant woman was forced to deliver her baby inside a vehicle while being taken to the hospital. Elderly commuters and patients also face severe difficulties, with some reportedly losing their lives due to delays in medical transport.
Locals have renewed their demand for urgent government intervention, stressing that the matter cannot be ignored any longer.
