BICHOLIM: Assuring that Bicholim will not be neglected in terms of development, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that some major projects in the taluka will be completed within the next one-and-half year.
Parrikar was speaking at the inauguration of 4th Bhatagram Mahotsav organised by Bicholim Bachao Abhiyaan (BBA) in association with Art and Culture Department and Tourism Department at Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan, Bicholim, on Wednesday.
“Projects like sports ground, bus stand, police station and fire station are the major projects in the city and they will be completed within the next one-and-half year. We are in the process of appointing a development consultant to undertake all these development projects,” informed Parrikar.
“The funds should be utilised in a proper manner and should not be a waste. The government money belongs to the public and should be utilised in a proper manner and only where there is a need,” stated Parrikar.
Commenting on the new PHC, Parrikar assured that it will be inaugurated in April or May.
Labour Welfare Minister Avertano Furtado, MLAs Naresh Sawal (Bicholim), Benjamin Silva (Velim) and Rohan Khaunte (Porvorim), Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) Chairperson Anisha Vernekar, Deputy Chairperson Narayan Betkikar and Samiti Secretary Naresh Kadkade were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, former North Goa MP Harish Zantye was conferred with ‘Bhatagram Bhushan’ and was felicitated by Parrikar.
Others felicitated included Mahadev Karapurkar (football defender), Meena Pralhad Usapkar (Kabaddi player), Manohar Pednekar football player), Sadashiv Kukalikar (sculpture), Tanuja Neugui (teacher) and Ashok Naik (farmer).
