MARGAO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has asserted that the majority silent vote would benefit the BJP in the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency, while exuding confidence of winning the seat by a margin of 40,000 votes.
During an informal chat with the media, an optimistic chief minister said that the BJP would win the South Goa seat with a comfortable margin.
When his attention was drawn to reports that the Congress was banking on the silent vote to win the seat, Parrikar shot back:
“The Congress will not pocket the silent vote. No doubt, the Congress will get the silent vote only in some pockets in South Goa, but majority of the silent vote in the constituency would go in favour of the BJP”.
The chief minister asserted that strategic planning and hard work would help the BJP to garner more votes in the party traditional bastions. He replied in the negative when asked whether the BJP had tried its level best to polarise the Hindu vote in South Goa, saying that the party had gone to the people with a vote for development.
