The Margao police said that the deceased had suffered three blows on her head with a blunt object, two of which proved fatal.
After the autopsy, the body of the deceased has been preserved and Margao police said it may be transported back to her native state Manipur.
Accused Banner Keishing is presently cooling heels in the Margao police lock up.
A local court has remanded him to four days police custody for investigations into the case.
