Mapusa banks witness a drop in customer turnout

MAPUSA: After experiencing severe chaos for the last five days due to the demonetisation move by the Central government, most banks in Mapusa on Monday witnessed a drop incustomer turnout .
The situation on Monday seemed to improve a bit as people preferred to visit the banks to exchange their money at late hours so as to avoid standing in long queues. 
Short queues of customers were seen on Monday afternoon at the State Bank of India (SBI) Mapusa branch, which has been witnessing a heavy rush since November 9.
Most banks in Mapusa witnessed a lesser turnout of customers on Monday as most people visited the ATMs. 
A Mapusa resident said, “Earlier, I had seen the crowd outside the banks and I decided to come this week to exchange cash, thinking that the crowd would be less. And yes, I was right. There were less people outside the banks today”.
