On Friday night, the Mapusa Municipal Council carried out combing operations against those illegally dumping garbage on the road. The MMC fined more than 40 violators from the neighbouring panchayat for dumping garbage in Mapusa.
Chairperson of the Mapusa Municipal Council Shubhangi Vaigankar said that different teams were tasked with monitoring various ‘black spots’ for garbage over the past twenty nights. During this drive, the staff caught several offenders red-handed as they were dumping garbage in open spaces, under the cover of darkness.
