MARGAO: Citizens in Margao are raising serious concerns over the recruitment process at the Margao Municipal Council (MMC), questioning the transparency and fairness of recent hiring.

With high youth unemployment in the region, there are fears that deserving candidates may be sidelined due to favouritism, amid claims that the government’s Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has been bypassed.
Mahesh Naik, a Margao resident, emphasised the need for clarity from the government regarding recruitment at the MMC. He noted that thousands of young people are already struggling to find jobs, and any favouritism in public sector hiring only worsens the situation. “A transparent, merit-based process isn’t just fair—it’s essential for the future of Margao’s youth,” he said.
This demand for fairness reflects broader frustrations over a perceived lack of equal opportunity, particularly as public sector jobs are seen as a key pathway to stable employment in the region.
