Market, temples in Margao to observe curfew

MARGAO: The Margao New Market will remain completely closed on account of the ‘Janata Curfew’ on Sunday. 

In addition, several temples in Margao and around the town have decided to remain closed till March 31 to arrest the spread of the dreaded virus.

The Market Association President Vinod Shirodkar said that they would lock the gates of the market on Saturday evening and open it only after the Janata Curfew ends. 

“The virus is spreading rapidly and if we don’t stay home, we will lose the opportunity to arrest the community spread. We are in support of the call made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will remain closed until the curfew remains,” Vinod Shirodkar said. 

The Damodar Devasthan in Fatorda has announced that Shree Damodar (Ling), Fatorda in view of Coronavirus and Govt Advisory and guidelines will remain closed from Saturday to Monday. Public/Devotees are advised not to visit the temple for darshanas and other rituals during the above period.
