Mayor and team examine caved-in road of St Inez

In response to growing concerns over re cent road cave-ins and traf fic disruptions at St Inez, a joint on-ground inspection was conducted on Thurs day by Mayor of the City Corporation of Panaji (CCP) Rohit Monserrate along with officials from multiple departments. The inspection was at tended by representatives of the CCP, engineers from the Public Works Depart ment (PWD), Smart City of ficials, and Traffic Police In spector Mahesh Kerkar. The team reviewed the affected stretches and assessed the condition of the road infra structure, which has raised safety and traffic manage ment concerns among res idents and commuters in the locality.

According to Mayor Mon serrate, bringing all depart ments concerned together at the site enabled a coor dinated assessment of the overlapping civic and in frastructure-related issues affecting the area. During the inspection, immediate corrective measures were identified and necessary di rections were issued to the concerned authorities for prompt action. The Mayor stated that the exercise was aimed not only at addressing the im mediate concerns caused by the cave-ins, but also at strengthening coordination between depart ments to ensure a more effective and long-term solution for residents and daily commuters using the stretch. The recent cave ins at St Inez have sparked concerns among the public regarding road safety, drainage infra structure, and traffic con gestion, particularly during peak hours. Authorities are expected to undertake re pair and stabilisation work in the coming days.
