PANJIM: Close on the heels of Urban Development Minister Francisco D’Souza assuring that he would give full time chief officers to all municipalities, Mayor of the Corporation of the City of Panjim, has written a letter to the minister asking that the CCP should not be given a raw deal and should be given a full-time commissioner.
“Ours is one of the Urban Local Body which is facing problems on account of non-availability of a full time Commissioner in this Corporation, affecting adversely the day to day functions of this Corporation,” Furtado said in his letter.
“The present Officer Sanjit Rodrigues who is looking after as Commissioner of this Corporation is the Managing Director (of) Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd., as also holding some other charge and he hardly gets any time to come to this Corporation and attend to his day to day work regularly,” Furtado said in his letter.
“I regret to submit that the Chief Minister of Goa has so far not given any attention to my said request although I had reminded him on many occasions during my personal meetings with him thereafter,” referring to an earlier letter he addressed to the chief minister on this issue.
On Monday, Urban Development Minister, after a meeting with all urban local bodies, said that the government was working towards ensuring that all municipal councils have full time chief officers so that their work is not held up.
Commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues is also the Managing Director of Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd, besides, he is also holding some other charge; he hardly gets any time for the Corporation, Furtado said in his letter
