Cop withdraws plea from HC

PANJIM: A senior police officer, who had moved the High Court of Bombay at Goa challenging his suspension, withdrew his petition on Wednesday after State government told the court that the suspension had been revoked.

PANJIM: A senior police officer, who had moved the High Court of Bombay at Goa challenging his suspension, withdrew his petition on Wednesday after State government told the court that the suspension had been revoked. 
The Vigilance Department had suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police Shamba Sawant for allegedly misbehaving with a lady police constable while both were posted at Crime Branch, on April 13, 2012. 
An inquiry by Goa police’s Committee against sexual harassment at workplace had indicted the officer. 
On June 11, 2013, Sawant approached the High Court challenging the suspension. When the matter came up for hearing on Wednesday, the counsel appearing on behalf of the State informed the bench that the suspension was revoked on October 18, this year but an inquiry was still underway. The officer then withdrew his petition.
