PONDA: Stating that reporting by media on positive aspect will attract good people in politics, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar urged media fraternity to work in the direction.
“Not only in Goa, but everywhere it is the same trend. Reports on good work done by people or community have to be highlighted on par with publicity given to other incidents. This will encourage good people to join politics and also encourage people to take up social work,” said Parrikar after accepting donation towards Uttarakhand Relief Fund.
According to information, various NGOs from Ponda, government employees, Ponda Municipal Council, Bandora Panchayat and others have contributed about Rs 23 lakh towards Uttarakhand Relief Fund.
Parrikar recently accepted the donations at a function at PMC. PWD and Transport Minister Sudin Dhavlikar, Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar, St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh, State BJP President Vinay Tendulkar and Law Commission Chairman Adv Narendra Savoikar were present.
“We have planned to adopt two small villages in the flood-affected region in Uttarakhand and by September-end our team from Goa will visit there. We are waiting for the response from authorities in Uttarakhand,” said Parrikar.
Parrikar also complimented Minister Sudin Dhavlikar and MLA Mamledar for their initiative towards Uttarakhand Relief Fund.
