PONDA: Around five bags of medical waste have been dumped at the Farmagudi slope, posing a health hazard to pedestrians and residents of Bandora.
Speaking to Herald, Bandora local Govind Gavde said that the government, on one hand, took up Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and on the other hand, medical waste was being dumped by the roadside. He said he would file a complaint with the authorities, like police, Health Department and Bandora panchayat to initiate action against the doctor or hospital involved in dumping the waste beside the main road at Farmagudi.
Gavde suspected that the waste was from a nearby hospital and that it included syringes and bottles, which might get washed towards the residential area in Bandora.
He said that there should be pits to dump the waste and suspected that in the absence of such a provision, a doctor or hospital might have dumped the waste by the roadside.
He also called upon health authorities to check the premises of hospitals for such a provision.
