PORVORIM: A delegation from the Gomantak Bhandari Samaj centre committee presented a memorandum to Revenue Minister, Rohan Khaunte asking him to direct the collector not to issue caste certificates which comes from unauthorised channels at his Porvorim Constituency office on Tuesday.
They allege that some people are misusing the certificates being issued to them and some groups are giving caste certificates to non-bhandaris.
It has been brought to their notice that a group of people are issuing caste certificates to the people who are not from the Samaj by taking money and using their registration number which is totally illegal. They have authorised only two office bearers i.e the President, Ashok Naik and Secretary, Fakru Panjikar to issue caste certificates on behalf of Gomantak Bhandari Samaj. They have requested that certificates be issued only if the signature of these two office bearers is present on the certificate.
The MLA has assured to look into the matter and direct the North and South Goa collectors to take immediate action in the matter.
