Merces Court Issues Notice to Rama Kankonkar in Zenito Cardozo Bail Case

The Merces Special Court has issued a notice to victim Rama Kankonkar concerning the bail plea of accused Zenito Cardozo. The court asked Rama to indicate whether he prefers to be represented by the Public Prosecutor or by an advocate of his choice. This move ensures that the victim’s rights are considered in the ongoing proceedings. The hearing for Zenito Cardozo’s bail has been adjourned to October 13.

Zenito Cardozo is also facing additional legal complications. The High Court recently dismissed his appeal in the 2009 Siridao beach case, in which two individuals lost their lives. He had earlier been convicted of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The High Court has directed Zenito to surrender before the Sessions Court by November 10.
