Pointing out that people are helpless and are being taken advantage of, he called on the Department of Civil Supplies, Horticulture Department and Fisheries Department to look into the matter. He also said farmers are suffering and that the farmers need to be given reasonable rates given that the products are ultimately sold at a higher margin.
Sudin also criticised the CM for large scale violations of the Centre’s guidelines for the lockdown. He said that until a medicine or a vaccine is found, it cannot be said that Goa is safe from Corona and that the govt will be held responsible for the spread of coronavirus.
“Neither is there social distancing nor are people bothered to buy masks. Liquour is banned but is available freely. Around 50 to 60 people can seen in a public place together and it appears that people aren’t bothered about the disease,” said Dhavalikar while emphasising that this is a matter of life and death.
He also praised the doctors for their good work but cautioned the CM and Health Minister, while referred to the large number of cases in the Maharashtra and Belgaum, Karnataka.
MGP leader Ketan Bhatikar highlighted the plight of local businesses affected due to the lockdown and called on the govt to provide them with a financial package urgently and said their mental health is in a bad shape.
He urged the govt to provide safety equipment to electricity department’s linesmen and the fire department workers given that they are risking their life in the absence of such masks, sanitisers etc.
He also criticised the decision not to allow two people on a bike as well the decision to allow only two people to travel by car.
“What is wrong, if they travel together in their vehicle when they stay together in one common house. The government should not make a mockery of the lockdown with such rules,” said Bhatikar.
Finally, he called on the State to fill up vacancies in various govt departments.
