PANJIM: State government on Tuesday granted permission to Goa Board to resume the pending assessment work of already held Class XII Board exams. The examinations, which had begun from February 28, were halted from March 23, in view of extended “Janata Curfew” followed by nationwide lockdown.

The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) Chairman Ramakrishna Samant said that with the government granting permissions to undertake pending assessment work, the same would begin from April 23.
“The assessment of Class XII paper, for which exams were held, had begun by the teachers. However, the government had directed us to stop it in view of COVID-19 pandemic,” Samant said.
Chairman said that the teachers are requested to wear face masks, use sanitisers and follow norms of social distancing. He also said that the Board will take up the work of sanitisation of both North and South Goa camps, before the start of the work.
Samant said that the rescheduled time table for Class XII examination would be announced five days prior to the commencement of the exams, while in case of Class X the same would be 10 days in advance.
“The Board examinations are likely to be held in May, post lockdown is lifted,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has directed its zonal offices and institutions to resume service on alternate basis.
As per the order issued, the zonal offices are directed to ensure that Group A and B officers attend on daily basis, while Group C only 33 per cent staff on alternate basis.
Heads of Institutions are asked to ensure that the employees are called to office on alternate basis so that not more than 33 per cent strength of the employees attend office of the particular day and remaining shall work from home.
The schools are asked to see that the employees on duty are staggered into three groups. Social distancing has to be maintained at work place.
Employees should be encouraged to use masks while travelling in public transport at the workplace.
However, the staff having symptoms such as cough, cold, fever or short of breath, etc to stay at home and seek medical help.
