Reacting to questions from the media regarding the upcoming Ponda by-election, Goa Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said that the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) will support whichever candidate is fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Dhavalikar stated that as part of the alliance, it is the responsibility of MGP to stand with the BJP’s decision regarding the candidate for the by-poll.
He added that several names may be proposed by the BJP leadership, but whoever ultimately receives the party ticket will have the firm support of the MGP.
The minister also pointed out that the MGP has a significant voter base in Ponda, stating that the party commands around 5,500 votes in the constituency.
