Mickky Pacheco Backs Legalisation of Dhirio, Calls It Part of Goa’s Cultural Heritage

Former Minister Francisco “Mickky” Pacheco has called for the legalisation of Dhirio, describing the traditional event as an integral part of Goa’s cultural heritage.

Speaking to reporters, Pacheco said he was unaware that Dhirio was being held in the Benaulim constituency and stated that he had no knowledge of the incident that occurred during the event on the previous day.

He urged the Goa government to legalise the traditional practice, saying it should be preserved and promoted as an important aspect of Goa’s cultural identity.

Pacheco maintained that safeguarding such traditional events is essential to preserving the state’s rich heritage while calling for appropriate measures to ensure they are conducted in an organised and safe manner.
