Ministry of External Affairs Slams Trump Remarks, Reaffirms Strong India-US Ties

India on Thursday reacted strongly to recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, calling them “uninformed, inappropriate and in poor taste.” Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, said the comments do not reflect the reality of the India-US relationship, which is built on mutual respect and shared interests.

He noted that India had also taken into account the clarification issued by the US Embassy, where Trump described India as a “great country” led by a “very good friend.” Government sources added that New Delhi prefers to focus on substantive outcomes rather than media reports related to migration issues.
