In a daring theft, unknown miscreants lifted away cash of Rs 1.20 lakh from a van which had come to deposit money in the ATM unit of a private bank situated on the Abade Faria Road.
Margao PI Santosh Desai informed that the bank officials have claimed that the van was parked near the bank and the staff had just gone out to answer nature’s call when the miscreants lifted away the cash through the window of the van.
The police are verifying the complaint even as the men in uniform have expressed surprise over the theft when money amounting to Rs 23 lakh was inside the vehicle.
“It is indeed surprising that the staff left the van window open and went to answer nature’s call. We are verifying the complaint and further investigations are on”, PI Desai said.
