MARGAO: Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has lamented that leaders who do not want to spoil their relations with the ruling dispensation are ruling the roost in the Congress.
He opined that unless there was a thorough revamp of the party in State there would be no point in contesting the Assembly elections.
Speaking to media persons, he admitted that being left with no candidate for the Zilla Panchayat election in Sancoale Constituency was a manifestation of the fact that the Congress Party has not been tasking the right action in Goa.
“Owing responsibility for the embarrassment is not enough, it has to be followed with some action,” he said adding that maybe the person responsible should be divested of the position he holds indirectly hinting that Girish Chodankar should be replaced as the Goa Pradesh Congress Party president.
“At elections there is only one prize and no scope for a second prize and hence if we want to win the Assembly elections we have to be geared and prepared for it,” he said while adding that Congress leaders in Goa are not willing to fight the ruling dispensation.
He pointed out that of the five Congress MLAs in State at present four have enjoyed top positions in the past, thanks to the party and the people of Goa.
“Unfortunately today they are not thinking of giving back to the people of Goa and the party what they received from them in the past,” he said.
Calling for a total revamp of the party leadership, he said a revamp will eliminate the chances of any allegations and added that the State desperately needs a leader as even the Bharatiya Janata Party does not have any acceptable leader at the moment.
