MAPUSA: The Mapusa Municipal Council resolved to re-auction the pay parking fee tender of the Taxi Stand, here, at the special council meeting convened, on Tuesday.
Chairperson Ryan Braganza informed that the Council has resolved to re-auction the pay parking fee tender of Taxi Stand. The Council discussed that the initial beading amount of the tender was Rs 8 lakh. However, taking into consideration the COVID Pandemic situation and since the tender will be only for next 10 months, the beading amount will begin from Rs 5 lakh.

The Council further approved and resolved to sign an agreement with the “sopo” contractor Krishna Shirodkar, at an amount of Rs 45 lakh.
The Council discussed that the original ‘sopo’ contract is of Rs 1.10 crore, however, due to COVID pandemic the Council had to bear the loss. We have agreed to ‘sopo’ collection of Rs 45 lakh with a condition that this will continue only till the pandemic situation remains. Also the vendors’ ratio in the market is reduced to almost one third accommodation in the market in order to follow the social distancing norm.
The Council decided that once the movement of vendors gets back to normal, the original “sopo” contract will be followed.
“We have received proposal from Rotary Club of Mapusa to beautify the bus shelter near Mapusa Municipal Council. This particular shelter was initially taken by Prime Slot under corporate social responsibility (CSR). Prime Slot had erected bus stop shelter but beautification was not carried out. The Council has decided to call both the parties and take decision on the same based on mutual understanding of both the parties and handover the shelter,” Braganza informed
“The Council has also approved the amount of Rs 5 lakh to distribute Arsenic Alb 30 tablets to 12,000 households in Mapusa, 1,500 vendors and merchants and 500 municipal staff. This will help in boosting immune system to fight COVID,” the chairperson informed.
