Farmers in the Brahmakarmali area of Sattari taluka are facing severe losses as monkeys continue to cause large-scale damage to coconut plantations, destroying thousands of coconuts and dealing a major blow to growers’ livelihoods.
According to farmers, the animals are raiding plantations daily, plucking and damaging coconuts in large numbers before they can be harvested. With the current market price ranging between ₹40 and ₹50 per nut, the losses have translated into a serious financial setback for coconut growers in the region.

The affected farmers have expressed deep concern over the growing monkey menace and have urged the authorities to take urgent steps to control the problem and provide relief. Many said the situation has become unsustainable, with months of hard work being wiped out in a matter of days.
