PANJIM: A 40-year-old mother allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday morning. Deepali Varadkar was found hanging in a flat where she was living with her husband and three children Panjim police said.
The police did not recover any suicide note, but informed that Deepali’s husband Deepak, is employed as a peon in the Government Polytechnic.
“Husband is an alcoholic. He was asleep when the wife took the extreme step at about 11:30am,” the police said. The elder daughter, aged 15 and her two siblings were in the school when the incident happened.
The family lived together in the Polytechnic quarters at Altinho.
The body has been sent for post mortem at Goa Medical College. The husband will be called for questioning.
The incident comes incidentally a day after a lady doctor jumped off Mandovi Bridge along with her two young daughters. While the mother and the body of the youngest daughter was fished out Monday evening, the older daughter’s body was traced Tuesday. All the three bodies were sent to GMC for post mortem.
