Mumbai girl seriously hurt after fall from parachute

A parasailing trip turned tragic for a young girl from Mumbai after she came crashing down on the ground from a parachute at Cavelossim beach on Saturday evening.
The girl N Saldanha was immediately rushed to the Apollo Victor Hospitals in a critical condition and was admitted in the intensive care unit.
Though the Colva police feigned ignorance about the incident, sources in the know said the incident took place at around 5.30 this evening on the beach. The incident occurred moments after the parachute took off from the group when the hook reportedly got detached, throwing the victim girl on the ground from a height of around 200-300 meters.
The girl, who had reportedly come to participate in the ongoing festival, was immediately rushed to the Margao-based hospital in an unconscious condition.
Sources in the know said the victim has sustained fractured leg injuries and was to be operated in the hospital.
Immediately after the incident, water sports activity off Cavelossim beach came to a virtual halt.
