Mumbai witnessed yet another knife attack just days after a fatal stabbing inside a local train, raising fresh concerns over public safety in the city. A 35-year-old office worker was allegedly attacked near Mahim railway station after accidentally bumping into a stranger while returning home from work.The victim, identified as Naveen Prasanna, works as an office boy at a private company in Lower Parel. According to police, the incident occurred around 10 pm on June 25 after he got off a slow local train at Mahim station. While walking through the station premises, Prasanna accidentally collided with an unidentified man, causing the latter’s mobile phone to fall.Despite immediately apologising and explaining that the collision was accidental, the accused allegedly became aggressive and started abusing him. Prasanna attempted to avoid further confrontation by walking away, but the man reportedly followed him to Senapati Bapat Marg before pulling out a knife and attacking him.As the victim screamed for help, the accused allegedly threatened bystanders with the weapon, preventing anyone from intervening before fleeing the scene. Despite suffering injuries, Prasanna managed to reach his home, from where his brother rushed him to Sion Hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment.Police have registered a case and launched a search for the unidentified attacker.The incident comes less than a week after 22-year-old Mayank Lohar was fatally stabbed inside a Mumbai local train following an argument over whether the train door should remain open during heavy rain. Police later arrested the accused, Roshan Suvarna, after an extensive manhunt.
