A detailed ex amination of the charge sheet in the August 12 Mungul assault case has revealed the fullest ac count yet of what inves tigators believe unfolded that night, with the docu ment laying out a coordi nated build-up, the assault itself, and the movements of the accused after the in cident. Investigators state that the group travelled to the Margao–Colva Road in three vehicles before in tercepting a Baleno near Bab Bakery at Mungul. The accused allegedly believed one of the in tended targets, Walter Fernandes, was travel ling in the car owned by the complainant, Yuvkesh Singh Badaila. The 642 page document describes the vehicles converging from different directions and boxing in the Baleno, forcing it to stop. Some of the accused allegedly stepped out immediately, surrounding the car and preventing any attempt to reverse or escape. Police say the sudden blockage left the complainant with no room to manoeuvre, leading directly to the as sault. Investigators have matched tyre marks, vehi cle positions and witness accounts to sequence the events, noting that the confrontation began with in moments of the car be ing immobilised. A range of weapons is listed in the report, includ ing iron rods, choppers, hammers, knives, filled glass bottles, an axe and a firearm. The complainant and his friend sustained multiple injuries, and the Baleno was left with bro ken glass, dents and marks consistent with blunt force impact, according to investigators. Emergency treatment records and photographs taken short ly after the incident form part of the supporting medical evidence. One of the accused is alleged to have fired two rounds from a pistol during the incident. The chargesheet records that one bullet struck the left side door of the Baleno. No gunshot injuries were reported. The document then sets out what police say hap pened after the assault. Statements and support ing material refer to a ve hicle being arranged for several accused to leave Goa, followed by their stay at a hotel in Karnataka. Police say they have doc umented vehicle move ments and the locations where the group allegedly halted after the incident, and that these arrange ments were made despite knowledge of their alleged involvement. Three accused are named for allegedly de stroying their mobile phones and failing to produce them during the investigation, which po lice treat as suspected destruction of potential evidence. The charges pressed in clude multiple provisions of the BNS, 2023, relating to unlawful assembly, vol untarily causing grievous hurt and attempt to commit murder, along with sections of the Arms Act concerning the use of a firearm.
