PANJIM: Musical Warriors on Sunday morning held a musical protest in Panjim against Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s “political stunt” on the Mhadei river water diversion issue.
The group held protest at the footsteps of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church Panjim, singing various songs to protect the River Mhadei. The group is slated to hold series of protests across the State in support of the river water.
The group alleged that Parrikar’s letter to Karnataka’s BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa is being waved at election meetings across Karnataka.
“This is nothing but a political stunt. The move to hold talks is for merely gaining electoral points. The elections are scheduled in Karnataka and BJP is using Mhadei issue to seek support,” group member Kennedy Afonso said.
He said that people of Goa are united and will not allow the government to compromise with the interest of the State.
Activist Sudeep Dalvi said that the letter is an intra-BJP affair to fool the people of Goa as well as the people of Karnataka and to gain electoral points in the Karnataka elections. “One party is playing games at our cost for their personal gains in the elections. We are not going to allow this. The talks with Karnataka at this stage will go against Goa,” he said.
