MARGAO: Margao Town police on Sunday registered a case against unknown persons for abandoning a child and the abandoned new born baby was rushed to Hospicio where the female child who apparently was abandoned soon after the birth is being treated.
Police were informed at 10.20 am and PSI Harish Naik rushed to the site where they found the infant abandoned in some bushes near the Mandopa football ground and she was immediately rushed to Hospicio.
Police are on the lookout for the parents and registered a case under Section 317 of the Indian Penal Code for abandoning a child and also under Section 8 of the Goa Children Act for child abuse.
Incidentally, last week a three year old male child was found abandoned at Dramapur who was rescued and now is being looked after at the child care institute.
