MARGAO: In the recent elections for the managing committees of comunidade bodies, nine communities saw their committees elected unopposed, with Canacona Comunidade being the only one to have a contested election.
Officials reported that elections could not be held for the comunidade bodies of Chandor, Sarzora, and Assolna in Salcete, as well as the Jacqui Nundem Comunidade body in Sanguem, due to a lack of quorum. However, the managing committees of Cavelossim, Colva, Majorda, Cortalim, Provincia de Balli, Aquem, Loutolim, Rivona, and Chinchinim were elected unopposed.
For the Comunidade de Loutolim (2025-2027), the newly elected members are: Blaise Britto (President). Franky Monteiro (Substitute President), Ramiro Mascarenhas (Attorney), Erol Jorge (Substitute Attorney), Allwyn Mascarenhas (Treasurer AND Joaquim Monteiro (Substitute Treasurer)
In the Aquem Comunidade (2025-2028), the managing committee was elected unopposed with: Savio Joaquim Filipe Correia (President), Celestino Noronha (Attorney) and Merwin Leopoldo Cruz (Treasurer)
Similarly, the Chinchinim Comunidade managing committee was elected unopposed, comprising: Agnelo Furtado (President), Olencio Almeida (Attorney), Saadia Furtado (Treasurer), Savio Cotta (Substitute President), Crisanto Fernandes (Substitute Attorney) and Cyril Leitão (Substitute Treasurer)
A notable highlight is the election of
Savio Joaquim Filipe Correia as the President of Aquem Comunidade, marking his ninth
consecutive term elected to a managing
committee.
In his past roles, Correia has served as President, Attorney, and Special Attorney of the Comunidade of Verna. He has also been the President of the Comunidade of Margao for five terms, a position he still holds. With his election as President of Aquem Comunidade, this marks his fourth term in that capacity.
