VASCO: In a bid to ensure smart policing in the port city of Vasco, new sub-divisional police officer, Vasco DySp Sunita Sawant on Monday has initiated the incorporation of modern technologies and stressed the need to install new CCTV cameras and restoring old defunct CCTV cameras in the city.
Speaking to reporters after taking charge as SDPO Vasco, Sawant said since the police need to update existing technology in surveillance, she would ask the Mormugao Municipal Council to get the CCTV cameras in Vasco restored and installed, wherever required.
“I am trying to take stock of situations here and I understand all major junctions and crossroads in Vasco was under CCTV camera vigil. However, out of 52 CCTV cameras installed, only nine are currently operational.
Since surveillance is important, my top priority would be to see that all the old CCTV cameras in Vasco are restored and new high-resolution cameras installed, wherever required,” she said.
