MARGAO: The NGO GOACAN has expressed displeasure over the very limited time given for suggestions to change the final draft RERA Rules for Goa.
The final draft RERA rules for Goa was issued on Tuesday by Director of DMA and Urban Development Secretary. The same may be notified through a gazette notification soon. GoaCAN has objected to the only 10-day time given for objections or suggestions to the said draft- rules.
GOACAN Convenor Roland Martins said, “The RERA Rules is an excellent legislation of the government for a state like Goa which is going through a big real estate development phase. It is likely to be published through gazette today and there are only 10 days given for the objections and suggestions, which is wrong.”
“Our priority should be to enable people to have a proper intrinsic look into the document as it is. This has to be kept open for at least 1 month or more so that there is enough time for all people and small and big developers to read it thoroughly,” Martins said.
The NGO has decided to write to the Department to increase the time for objections and suggestions so that the people get fair time to go through the draft.
“The beauty and success of the RERA for Goa will be a healthy debate and discussion on the rules before they get notified,” Martins said.
