PANJIM: The Goa Police’s Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested two Nigerian nationals for illegally staying in India. The two, who were spotted near Arambol beach, have been lodged at Detention Centre.
The alert locals had in fact informed the police that around 5-6 African nationals were moving around the place despite lockdown. They were also found drinking alcohol, matter which also is being investigated on the availability of liquor during the ban period.

SP Shobhit Saxena said they are verifying the duo’s identity as none possess valid documents.
“We found two of them from the place which were informed to us by the locals. These foreign nationals were found loitering around the beach, and on being asked, they failed to produce any document to establish their identity. Since they are not in possession of passport or visa, we lodged them in the Detention Centre for deportation and black listing,” the officer said.
The ANC team screened the duo before lodging them at the government-run centre. “They were found asymptomatic with no travel history,”
Saxena said on being asked if the Nigerians underwent thermal screening or testing before being sent to the custody.
The Arambol locals have been extra vigilant after a group of foreigners allegedly organised a party recently. However, by the time, the police force reached the site, the foreigners escaped. The Police Department has been denying any such event in the coastal village.
