PORVORIM: Even as the GMC finally conducted the autopsy on the murdered Nigerian on Thursday, police arrested 10 Nigerians on charges of causing tension at Parra, which had preceded the riots at Porvorim.
Speaking to Herald, Mapusa Police Inspector Tushar Vernekar stated that the doctors at GMC Hospital conducted the post-mortem on the murdered Nigerian, Obado Uzoma Simeon, after documents confirmed his correct identity.
“As per the post-mortem report, the death of the Nigerian has occurred due to stab injuries. In all, 29 stab injuries were found on the body of the Nigerian,” stated PI Vernekar.
It may be recalled that doctors at GMC Hospital had refused to conduct the post-mortem as Mapusa Police could not produce the identity of the deceased to the satisfaction of the doctors.
PI Vernekar further informed that Mapusa Police on Thursday arrested 10 Nigerians on charges of causing tension at Parra. “They were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class Mapusa, who remanded them to 14 days judicial custody,” added PI Vernekar.
“These Nigerians are among those 51 Nigerians who have been remanded to JC for creating riot at Porvorim,” clarified PI Vernekar.
