MARGAO: Asserting that the government has not discriminated against any religious community in the implementation Laadli Laxmi scheme, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday made an impassioned plea to Goans to repose their trust and confidence in his government to usher in prosperity of each and every Goan in 2013.
He said that every Goan family will be benefited by a monetary relief of Rs 50,000 annually taking into account the host of schemes launched by the government and the sops on petrol and KTC travel.
“Around 26.7% Catholics and 3.5% Muslims are the beneficiaries of the Laadli Laxmi scheme. The percentage of Muslims is comparatively less because of the migration of the community into Goa’, he said, while speaking at the launch of the Griha Aadhar scheme in Salcete taluka in the presence of MLAs Benjamin D’Silva and Rajan Naik, MMC Chairperson Arthur D’Silva, BJP leaders Damu Naik and Domnic Gaonkar, besides District Collector N D Agrawal.
“Schemes implemented by my government since the last nine months, including VAT relief on petrol have given big relief to the families fighting inflation. On petrol, the government revenue amounts to Rs 200 crore, but each family is saving Rs 500 on petrol”, he said, adding each family will be benefited by a monetary relief of Rs 50,000 annually. He reiterated his resolve to make available the LPG cylinders at subsidised rates.
