No-Confidence Motion Against Davorlim-Dicarpale Sarpanch Fails After Member’s Absence

The no-con fidence motion moved by six members of the Davorlim-Dicarpale panchayat against sar panch Menino João Cola co has failed after one of the signatories remained absent during the voting, breaking the required ma jority. With the motion de feated, Colaco will continue to hold office. Colaco had been elected sarpanch just days earlier, winning by a 7–4 margin. The no-confidence mo tion was submitted within hours of his election, sig nalling divisions within the panchayat. However, dur ing the meeting convened on Tuesday to decide the motion, one of the mem bers who had signed it did not attend, preventing the motion from securing the necessary numbers. Speaking after the out come, Colaco said he was relieved that the issue was settled. “I am grateful to the members who stood by me. The panchayat can now focus on developmen tal work,” he said.
