PANJIM: Even as Kerala is on alert in the wake of deaths due to Nipah virus (NiV), Goa is yet to issue an advisory.
“We have not received guidelines from the Centre as of now,” Health Services Director Dr Sanjeev Dalvi told Herald when asked if Goa has also been kept on alert over this deadly virus.
The Kerala government has confirmed three deaths in its State due to Nipah.
The blood and fluid samples of all suspected cases for confirmation have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune.
Sources said even as no advisory has been issued for Goa, the State is chalking out precautions and measures to prevent any outbreak of this disease in Goa since the treatment is limited to supportive care.
