PANJIM: State Congress president Girish Chodankar on Monday said youth across the country are being inspired and attracted towards Rahul Gandhi’s thoughts for nation building.
Chodankar, who is looking at new and young faces in the party fold, has urged the younger generation to help the party spread its ideology of secularism in every household.
“Many youth across India are getting inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s thoughts for nation building. His ideas for the nation are young and fresh. Youth in Goa are not an exception to this,” Chodankar said, as he welcomed Cumbarjua panch Nandkumar Shet and former Sarpanch and current panch of Old Goa, Vishal Volvoikar into the party.
Chodankar, a former Youth Congress president, said many youth will join the party as they feel inspired by the party’s ideology and Gandhi’s thoughts. “I want youth to ensure that Congress ideology of secularism, unity reaches every household. It is the duty of the youth to connect Congress party with the people,” he stated. “Party is looking for young minds to take it forward,” he said.
He claimed that the youth in Goa are frustrated due to growing unemployment and with no employment opportunities opening up. “Government has completely failed on this front,” Chodankar stated.
He appealed to traditional Congressmen, who earlier felt ignored by the party, to come forward and help in strengthening the party.
Meanwhile, Shet and Volvoikar along with their 30-odd supporters joined Congress. Shet said he is confident Congress will provide good platform for youth.
