North Goa Collector inspects mining pits with other departments’ officials

Directs to take safety measures to avoid eventualities

PANJIM: A joint team of government departments inspected various mining pits in Sattari taluka on Sunday. The team led by North Goa Collector Mamu Hage comprised officers from various departments including Mines & Geology, Public Works Department and Water Resources Department among others. 

The inspection was conducted apparently from disaster management perspective in view of the oncoming monsoon season.

Hage instructed the mining company and administrative officials to undertake safety measures wherever necessary to avoid any eventualities during the monsoon. Providing with pumping facilities for all trenches to prevent emergency situations and to undertake precautionary measures where there are possibilities of breaching of dumped ore were also directed to the mining companies and government departments. He also instructed the Mamlatdar and Deputy Collector to remain vigilant at all mining pits during the monsoon.
