The District Consumer Redressal Commission, North Goa, has directed a vehicle manufacturer and its dealer to jointly refund Rs 15 lakh to a Santa Cruz resident after holding that the car sold to him suffered from serious defects.
The seven-seater vehicle, purchased in September 2023 for over Rs 24 lakh and largely financed through a bank loan, reportedly functioned without issues only for a few months. It later suffered repeated breakdowns, including once while the complainant was on his way to drop his children at school.
Despite multiple repairs, the vehicle continued to malfunction, leading the commission to conclude that it was unsafe and caused the buyer mental distress.
