North Zilla Panchayat members want salary hike

In addition to more powers and funds, the newly elected members of thirty-member North Goa Zilla Panchayat (NGZP) today adopted a resolution demanding increase in their salary.
The general body meeting of NGZP chaired by the Adhyaksha Pandurang Parab was held at Secretariat on Thursday wherein new members discussed pending issues as also increase in salary.
Currently, Zilla Panchayat member draw a monthly salary of Rs 5000 but members wants it to be increased to Rs 10000, sources said.
The Pending issue of pension was also discussed. It may be recalled that among one of the demands of last Zilla Panchayat members was that they should be entitled for pension.
Today, a resolution was passed for payment of pension to Zilla panchayat members in additions to resolutions passed for more demanding more powers and funds.
There was also a resolution that chamber of deputy adhyaksha Deepika Prabhu be fitted with air-conditioner and she also be allowed a vehicle. Currently, only the adyaksha is given a vehicle.
