OLD GOA: A 55-year-old security guard from Curtorim was found murdered inside the Christian Art Gallery at Old Goa late Wednesday evening.
According to Old Goa Police, Luis Bogato, who was working at the art gallery for the last seven years, was found in a pool of blood inside the art gallery.
Police suspect that the incident might have occurred between 6 pm and 7.30 pm on Wednesday after employees working at the art gallery left for the day.
The art gallery also has one administrator, one assistant administrator, who was on leave, along with two other girls, who had left after their office hours.
Incidentally, the Christian Art Gallery has four security guards with two each working in a rotation throughout the day.
Police sources informed that Luis along with another security guard was supposed to join the night duty, but due to some reason the other security guard joined duty at about 8 pm, while Luis joined duty earlier.
“We came to know about the incident after the Police Control Room officials informed us about the murder in a art gallery at Old Goa,” informed a police official.
The dog squad and finger print experts were also pressed into service, but could not provide any clue.
“Luis seems to have been attacked with a hard object on his head by an unknown accused resulting in his death, after which the accused decamped with antique valuables like two gold rosary, gold belt and bracelets, which were found missing from the first floor room,” said police.
Old Goa Police have registered the case of murder under Sections 302, 392 IPC against unknown persons and is investigating the case.
