PANJIM, APRIL 10
With the opening of the bids, Goa will see online gaming from June this year.
Future Gaming and Sugal and Damani are the two bidders for this lottery, Joint Secretary (finance) Anand Sherkhane said today. The scrutiny process is on and it will be finalised next week, he said. The agreement will be signed later this month and within a month or so, the firms will begin operations, sources said.
Both the firms have experience in running lotteries in other parts of the country. In the Expression of Interest invited by the government, a minimum experience of three years working directly in at least two states as sole distributors/stockist/marketing agent, was asked for.
As per terms and conditions in the tender forms government will give contract to both the companies if they fulfill the conditions. From each company government expects revenue to the tune of Rs 12 crore. This is expected to fetch around Rs 24 crores.
There is however another clause. If their turnover goes above Rs 1000 crore then they will have to pay the government 0.25 percent more. This will take the revenue receipts higher – by another 10 crores.
